Newsademic is an excellent resource. It is used in our Grade 5 class, Grades 6-10 Social Studies, Grade 6 Science, and Grades 6-10 ESL classes. Students are able to learn what was going on in the world in a range of subject and geographical areas and the language and activities work well with a wide range of abilities in English.

The news articles in Newsademic are accessible and contain informative global items which students would not otherwise find out about. The resources are well prepared and engaging, students find that tasks break up the reading into more enjoyable chunks. The activities are useful in the classroom as they can be used as starters, main activities or as a prelude for topical debate.

I encourage our two children to read every issue of Newsademic. It's full of news for kids and the effect has been amazing. Our problem now is being able to answer all their questions about world events and why they are happening. I too now need to keep more up to date with the news. Newsademic should be made compulsory reading for every 11/12 year old.

Newsacademic is great ... it makes the news far more accessible than a daily newspaper.

Newsademic is an excellent publication for children (and adults I might add). It explains things logically and simply - on a wide range of worthy topics including the arts and humanities.

I have happily received my first issue of Newsademic. It is everything I expected. The variety and international nature of the articles is particularly appropriate at our school. The American School of Warsaw, which has a very international student population. One of our most important aims is to help our students become responsible global citizens; Newsademic will be an important part of my classroom. Amazingly, it also included a story which mentioned the small village in New Zealand where my parents live!
I wish everyone involved in this venture the best of luck. I have long been interested in the role that current events can have in teaching ESL and native language speakers as well as increasing their knowledge about the world.

We have really appreciated our subscription to Newsademic. We are a trilingual school in a country where the students speak sometimes up to four languages at home so a resource like Newsademic is an invaluable addition to our school. The articles are interesting and relevant to our students' lives- we appreciate your prompt service and good quality product so much.

Newsademic is really interesting and well-pitched for 11-16 year olds and the classroom activities have a lot of mileage. I advertise each issue in our staff bulletin with a list of contents in the hope that staff will use it as a 'starter activity' at the beginning of lessons or during tutor time with forms.

The children really enjoyed reading the free issue of Newsademic which I downloaded last week. So I am optimistic that our subscription will help to improve their knowledge of current worldwide news and events. I think this is such a great idea and we are all looking forward to the next issue.

Newsademic provides a really interesting and varied read for our students each fortnight. The articles make world issues accessible and interesting. It is a valuable addition to our resource centre, also to 'reading boxes' for literacy hours.

An excellent newspaper, making the news easily accessible to the overseas students and supported by some very good worksheets. A very useful resource. Thank you!

WOW! I have just received the first issue of Newsademic. What a nice surprise. I read it through and loved the total use of facts only, no unnecessary trashy articles. I will be letting my 10 year old read it and I know it will keep her reading to the end. Many thanks for thinking of children and giving them a chance to learn about our world. This news for kids is so much more educational than a comic.

Although I count myself capable of reading material at a slightly higher level of vocabulary than Newsademic I look forward to its arrival as it succinctly and carefully summarises world problems in a factual, unbiased manner which gratifyingly enlightens quite complex issues.
It is pitched accurately at the age and has the advantage of readability along with the variety of subjects it chooses to highlight.

We have found Newsademic both informative and helpful. The map outlining the areas which are covered in the articles is also of benefit.
The fact that the articles are "children friendly" and easy to read and understand, is the whole essence of the newspaper and the reason why we have subscribed to it.

I really enjoyed my first issue of Newsademic. I gave copies of it to my middle school students, who I teach. They read it enthusiastically. Since I am also teaching ESL to international students I plan to introduce it to them as well. I love the clear layout of the newspaper, and the fact that it has no advertisements. The maps and pictures are also well chosen.

I teach English as a Second Language, mainly to Asian students from Years 9 to 12 in an Australian boy's college. The levels and interest in each class can vary, but somehow I manage to find articles that cater to the needs of all my students. Due to its international content I can use materials that extend them and also offer them information they can identify with.
A copy of Newsademic.com is also available to students who wish to keep up with the latest news without having to struggle with journalistic and political jargon.

We found Newsademic a useful addition to our school library. The length of articles, clear layout and use of colour photographs makes the paper attractive to our pupils (age 5 - 13 years).
News items are well written. The main facts are conveyed clearly and the inclusion of a glossary allows pupils to read independently. It also offers them the opportunity to widen their vocabulary.
The international element is also impressive as most of our pupils tend not to read that part of the newspapers which are brought into their own homes.

We use Newsademic as a reading resource for our EFL students. It is particularly enjoyed by those students preparing for IELTS exams, who find it more manageable than the daily newspapers. We find that low level mature students also enjoy reading it as it gives them the information they desire in a concise and relatively easy form.

Newsademic is so cool but could you maybe have a couple more news articles about New Zealand? Last month there wasn't any. (But I really enjoy receiving each issue. It's very interesting and even my English teacher wanted to read it!) Thanks!

We are a small school who has had a subscription to Newsademic. We have found the paper very thought-provoking and of interest to a wide range of students. One of our overseas students in particular got a great deal out of it and enjoyed reading it for both its newsworthy content, and to further his understanding of the language. The materials linked to the paper are great - lots of enjoyable educational activities.

We find Newsademic and more importantly the activities a great resource. The activities allow students of all abilities to engage with the text and pull out the main points. It also gives students an insight into what's happening in the world around them and is a great starting point to spark a debate. The language is accessible and user friendly.

Very impressed. I especially like the no advertising and no TV, pop music, sport, and pop culture conditions. Articles appear to be informative and clear, yet not "dumbed down". Maps included are nice and clear. Well done!

I find Newsademic very useful in my class. It is an excellent resource which covers almost all areas of the curriculum. The added bonus of the extra foundation and core worksheets provided with each issue of Newsademic caters for the needs of the pupils. Pupils are introduced to many new words and topics which encourages the use of a dictionary and research. Reading skills have improved; class discussions and debates have been encouraged on some of the articles ensuring improved speaking skills.

I have been making Newsademic available for students studying on EAP courses (English for Academic Purposes) at the University where I teach. These readers are normally going on to do degrees at the University or elsewhere in the UK. They find the news contents a stimulating variation from the more formal academic texts they are normally confronted with and I encourage them to read for fluency practice as well as to broaden their knowledge of world affairs and topical issues. Well done.
